my opinion on disney (if you like disney don't read)

i really dislike disney movies. and i know that is so crazy to people but i just can't help it! haha i wrote a paper about this for one of my college english classes so let me explain. so take your typical disney princess show. girl starts out being by herself and having endless problems and just being lame. snow white has a horrible step mother that is trying to kill her and then she ends out having to take care of 7 men. cinderella also has a horrible step mother and step sisters and has to clean their house and is miserable. aurora (sleeping beauty) has a evil fairy trying to kill her and is being forced into a life she doesn't want. ariel is stuck in a life she doesn't want and has an overbearing father. belle lives with her father in a town of people that make fun of her and then is forced to live with a terrifying beast. jasmine's father is trying to set her up with guys that she doesn't like and so being 16 runs away from home. pocahontas is being forced into a marriage she doesn't feel right about. mulan is stuck with parents who are extremely strict in the way they want her to be. tiana is a poor girl who wants to start a restaurant against what her mother believes she should do. rapunzel is kidnapped as a baby and then stuck with a crazy lady who pretends to be to be her mother and refuses to let her see the world. those all are ridiculously crappy lives!! it's almost like they're trying to be too relatable but just overkilling it all.
we all know what happens next in all of these movies. enter prince charming and cue the happy ending. this drives me craaazy. so unrealistic!! all of these girls get their problems solved because they end out with some guy that makes all of them magically disappear. no wonder so many girls have such a skewed view of how love is and believe that it will just make everything ok. that's not life.
also another reason why i have a problem with the princess story. it teaches kids that they don't need to listen to their parental figure in life. think about it, how many of these girls listened to what their parents wanted them to? i don't think any of them. it portrays parents horribly. i found this on pintrest and it made me laugh cause it's so funny and so true.
if i have my way, my children probably won't watch much disney. as much as i would love to have expecially my daughters grow up thinking all of this, i would prefer to avoid it. as hard as reality might seem, that's life. life is hard. things don't happen like they do in a movie. but hey that's just my opinion :)
